By default, emails sent through Apex use the [email protected] address. However, verifying your own domain allows you to use a custom email address (e.g., [email protected]) for sending emails, which can enhance your brand's credibility.

Understanding domain verification

To ensure the successful delivery of your emails and to authenticate your domain, you need to verify your domain by adding specific DNS records. This process involves adding an MX record and two TXT records to your domain's DNS settings.

Steps for domain verification

1. Add your domain

  • Go to the domain verification section on the Configurations tab or Onboarding screen, enter your domain name, and click on the Add domain button

2. The following table will be generated for your domain. Use it to fill in the required info in the steps below.

3. Access Your Domain's DNS Settings

  • Log in to your domain registrar's website (e.g., GoDaddy, etc.).

  • Navigate to the DNS management section. This may be labeled as "DNS Settings," "DNS Management," "DNS Configuration," or something similar.

3. Add an MX Record

  • Find the option to add a new record.

  • Copy the values from the domain verification table on Apex

    • Enter the following details

      • Host:

      • Value

      • Priority

  • Save the MX record.

4. Add two (2) TXT Records

  • Find the option to add a new record.

  • Copy the values from the domain verification table on Apex

    • Enter the following details

      • Host:

      • Value

  • Save the TXT record.

5. Verify Your Domain

  • After adding the records, return to the Apex platform.

  • Go to the domain verification table and click the refresh button

  • The system will check the DNS records you added. This process may take a few minutes to propagate.

6. Confirmation

  • Once records have been validated the status chip will be marked as verified.

  • If the verification fails, double-check that you entered the correct details and that the records have been saved properly.

Additional tips

  • Propagation Time: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate fully, although they often update much sooner.

  • Double-Check Entries: Ensure there are no extra spaces or typos in the records you add.

Takeaway

By verifying your domain, you enhance your brand reputation. Follow the steps above to add the required MX and TXT records, and complete the verification process smoothly.
